Crossing the Line

What side are you on?

You have probably heard or read information about the hemispheres of the brain and which side controls what…. It was thought that if you are more “left brained” you will be more analytical and if you are more “right brained”, more creative.

But Nobel Prize winner, Roger W. Sperry, has discovered that creative people actually don’t have a dominant side of the brain. We creative people tend to use both, as our left side thinks in words and symbols, while the right side thinks in images.

If you are in need of a little brain gym, why not try one, some or all of these ideas to get both sides of your brain going:

• Jump from side to side of a broom or line on the floor
• Tap your head and rub your tummy at the same time
• Write your name with your non-dominant hand
• Shower in the opposite order to what you normally do
• Drive a different route to work
• Try a new recipe

Let’s get these brains in action and create the next masterpiece!
